FUNERAL & BURIAL ARRANGEMENTS:

Once you contact one of Masjid Bilal’s funeral coordinators they will discuss the process with you in details and help you fill out the paper work and make the necessary arrangements. Once the body of the deceased is ready for release from the facility where it is being held, the funeral coordinator will do the following:

  • Transport the deceased at Masjid
  • Make arrangements for bathing and shrouding the body (ghusl and takfeen)
  • Make arrangements for the burial
  • Coordinate the funeral prayer
  • Transport the deceased to the cemetery

Although Masjid Bilal’s funeral coordinators will help you every step of the way, we encourage family members to familiarize themselves with the process and the details as outlined below:

IF DEATH OCCURS AT HOME:

Call 911 or Call your family doctor (or the last doctor the patient had seen) for a home visit (for the due process) of issuance of a Medical Certificate of Death (Form 16 below). Fill out (Form 15 below) Statement of Death. This form can be obtained from Masjid Bilal or from City Hall. The body will be transported by an ambulance or by the use of Masjid’s van to the Funeral Facility at Masjid.

This form can be obtained from Masjid Bilal or from City Hall and the body will remain in the morgue until the other Hospital’s formalities are completed.

Bring both forms (Forms 15 & 16 below) to the City Hall to obtain a Death Registration, also called a Burial Permit.
